My name is Seanna Lyn Chestnut, and you are currently visiting my blog, I Breathe Words (IBW).
I’ve been a writer for as long as I can remember and I try to pour my passion into my words—pieces of my flesh frozen in print.
My love of words led me to try to find a career path in writing. First choice: journalism, which literally only lasted a semester. Second choice: creative writer, which I’ll be studying every day by practice. Third choice: a mix of creative and professional writing, which I earned my degree in on May 2013.
I was an English major concentrating in professional writing with minors in creative writing and gender & women’s studies. I graduated from Western Kentucky University with a wealth of lessons on writing and life.
What type of professional writing am I going to be doing, you say? I want to be a web content writer or editor, professional blogger, or creative editor. That’s part of why I’m so dedicated to this blog. That, and I adore it.
For me, writing is a release. You know that feeling you get when you have a mosquito bite? You keep telling yourself not to scratch it because it’ll only get worse, but said bite starts to burn with need, so you finally give in. That intense giving in of pleasure is what I get out of writing.
I write fiction, poetry, a bit of non-fiction, and a bunch of blogging. This is me, writing about writing. You can learn a bit more about me and my writing by reading my very own Writer Profile that I did.
About I Breathe Words
The purpose of the blog itself is to be a place where writers (new and practiced) can pick up tidbits about what they love to do. One of my professors recently told me that it seemed to be growing into a “writing journal”. My hope and plan for IBW is that it will grow into a community type blog with the journal aspect of Writer Profiles, writing tips, and weekly poetry submissions, along with a workshop editing forum where writers can connect, share, and learn from each other.
